Richard Hennessy was the youngest son of Lord Ballymacloy, whose ancestral home still stands in Killavullen, North Cork. Twenty year old Richard departed Cork in 1745, for France, to fight with the Irish Brigade of the French army of King Louis XV. By 1756 Captain Hennessy had left the army and began trading in eaux-de-vi. Within ten years he was distilling wine in the Charente region of Cognac and thus Hennessy Cognac was born.
To celebrate the Cork connection of such a world renowned brand, we are delighted to feature Hennessy Cognac as our "Other Spirits" selection this year. Join Alan Kavanagh, of Edward Dillon, as he guides us through a selection of Hennessy Cognac's.
We will start the evening with a welcome Cognac Cocktail, followed by the Hennessy Cognac selection and a bonus tasting of the now rare Hennessy "Na Geanna" Irish whiskey.
Please note, once Cork Whiskey Society members do not take up the full allocation, non-member tickets will become available for registration from the 15th May.
Tickets that include the bus option are available to purchase up to 4 days prior to the event (Sun 4th June 2017).
