"In a neat little town they call Belfast" goes the lyrics to the well-loved traditional ballad known as The Black Velvet Band. And a neat little town it certainly is; steeped as it is in whiskey history, the center of Irish distilling from the late Victorian period, and a must-visit for any serious Irish whiskey lover. The whiskey-laden trinity of The Harp Bar, The Friend At Hand and The Duke of York pub, in the same small cobbled crossroads location, make the trip worthwhile in itself.
The proximity of the famed Bushmills distillery however, reached via one of the most inspirational coastal drives in the world, makes our journey northward even more rewarding.
