Tue 29th Oct - Prohibition Tasting @ Secret Speakeasy Venue
We are going back in time, 100 years to be exact, to the land of Prohibition America. On the morning of 29TH October 1919, Americans awoke to the news that the US Congress had ratified the Volstead Act, which prohibited the manufacture, transport and sale of intoxicating liquors.
Struggling suffragists, bigoted nationalists, shameless politicians, ruthless gangsters, flamboyant musicians, fabulous flappers, crafty bootleggers and crooked cops all played their part in making this the time of the well-lubricated Swinging 20's, rather than the bone-dry industrious era it was meant to become.
On the night we will sample genuine antique whiskeys that tell the story of Prohibition, the very spirits that were actually consumed in America during the 1920's and 1930's.
This is a members-only event and registered guests will be informed, by private E-mail, of the mystery Cork city venue. Please "speak easy" on this matter and keep the venue information to yourself. We wish to avoid an unexpected raid by Federal Prohibition Agents.
